16473548-mmmainGhana goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey has signed for American side top-flight side Portland Timbers after ending his stay in the Norwegian league, an insider has exclusively told Ghana’s leading football news outfit GHANAsoccernet.com.

The 26-year-old has signed for the MLS side for the remainder of the 2015 league season, the insider told www.ghanasoccernet.com.

Kwarasey opted hot to extend his expired contract with his Norwegian side Stromsgodset last month following several failed negotiations over his new term of contract.

Instead of signing a new contract with his former club Strømsgodset he has chosen to move completely out of Europe to sign with the Portland Timbers.

Kwarasey was Ghana’s first choice keeper in the African Cup of Nations in 2012 and started the first game against the United States during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil in June.

But announced his temporary retirement from the international game this past August after he was benched at the subsequent matches at the World Cup.

Domestically he made 167 appearances in all competitions, conceded 232 goals, posted 40 shutouts and won the Norwegian league’s 2013 goalkeeper of the year.
