UK gov’t has no “moral right” to lecture us on corruption – NDC

Fred Agbenyo says organizers of the UK Anti-corruption Summit have no moral right to hold a summit to discuss issues of corruption, particularly pertaining to Africa.

Speaking on Peace FM‘s Kokrokoo, the Deputy Communications Director of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Agbenyo slammed the summit, claiming most often, Europeans are themselves beneficiaries of corruption in the world.

According to him, it is their banks and nations that benefit from the corruptible practices of some African leaders and so wondered why they would organize such an event to tackle graft.

The (corrupt) money goes to their banks. It’s their nation that they use the money to develop. When the money comes into their account, are they blind to the fact that a human being hid the monies in foreign accounts? Why don’t they bring the money back to Africa?

To the NDC Deputy Director of Communications, the UK government has no right to offer African nations and their leaders lessons on corruption.

African Union should be able to organize such events. As far as I’m concerned, we don’t even need the European or UK government to organize such an event for us…And I don’t expect them to be teaching us lessons on corruption… I don’t think they have any moral right to be organizing any workshop for us on the subject of corruption,” he stated emphatically.
