Uganda game will be tough – Asamoah Gyan

Asamoah-Gyan-awaits-Shanghai-derbyBLACK Stars skipper, Asamoah Gyan, has stated that the game against Uganda on Friday at the Tamale Sports Stadium will be very tough.

Speaking to the press after the Black Stars training in Accra yesterday, Gyan, who is Ghana’s all-time leading top scorer said, “This is the first game of the qualifier and we will try our best to win it”.

“Since 2003 when I joined the national team, the Ugandans have been a headache for us, it is either they win or we draw and all the players know that. Statistically, they are on top and this time around we will try and break that jinx.”

Concerning his fitness as he has been out of the Stars for some time, he said “I am very fit now and can give my all to the team. I have to work extra hard so I don’t get tired early.

“He also pleaded with the fans to troop to the stadium and support the Stars since the team is for all Ghanaians. If anything bad happens, it affects the whole country and not the individuals. We know some of the fans are upset but they should let bygones be bygones and support us”, he added.

Adam Kwarasey, Jeffrey Schullp and Thomas Partey were absent from yesterday’s training session held at the Accra Sports Stadium.  They are expected to join the team today.

The Black Stars are set to leave for the Northern regional capital Tamale today and continue with their preparations ahead of their clash with Uganda on Friday.
