“At age 60, I want to be blessed like Commodore Coomson,” a young man in his mid-twenties soliloquised at the residence of Commodore Coomson yesterday when the family of the decorated Naval Officer had a surprise birthday for him.
Born on 6th August, 1957 at Saltpond, Commodore Seth Vincent Aidoo Coomson is an alumnus of Adisadel College where he was in Jubilee House and later to Ediradze House, all in the lower school of the all-boys school in Cape Coast. A science student at Adisadel College, Commodore passed his exams and proceeded to the University of Cape Coast. Unfortunately, poverty got him out of the University so he had to virtually vanish from the tertiary institution.
A year later, the strongly motivated to succeed young Commodore Coomson returned to the University in a military uniform. He rose through the ranks of the military, went on courses and had a scholarship from the British to do a master’s degree course in MSc Global Security at Cranfield University, United Kingdom. He graduated the best student in Msc Global Security at Cranfield University.
Commodore Coomson later had a part scholarship to pursue a PHD course but could not afford the other half of the fees. The military where he was a fulltime staff could not as well support at the time he had the PHD scholarship.
Ask people who have a smattering of Commodore Coomson’s life and one thing that will chorus amongst them will be “his unbendable love for God and the church.” Until his appointment as the Defence Advisor to the Ghana High Commission, United Kingdom, he was the President of the Ghana Armed Forces Christian Fellowship.
Married to Mrs. Yakoba Coomson, Commodore Coomson is blessed with five (5) pretty girls.
On your 60th birthday, your family and Ghana celebrate you Commodore Coomson. Your life is enough motivation to the contemporary youth to strive for excellence and leave an indelible mark in the shores of the world. Thank you for teaching us to make God the centre of our lives and raising the bar of excellence for us to do better.
Happy birthday and more wisdom in your after 60.
We salute you great man.
