Solomon Bosomtwi Sam is the ‘Christopher Columbus’ of film talents in Western Region

Junka Town movies could be said to be the magnet that attracted the attention of the media and many people to vernacular Actors in the Western Region. The arguably most popular movie from the Western Region is by far the movie that shot many names to fame.

To many, the topsy-turvy Junka Town movies are cocktail of ingenuity and humour. Names like Too Much, Alaska, Yoghurt, Body Talks, Debbie Jackson, Tracey and others are indebted to the Junka Town movies since that was their spring board.

Solomon Bosomtwi Sam, known on social media as D’junka General, the Writer and Director of Junka Town movies could be generously described as the Christopher Columbus (Discoverer of great film talents) of film talents in Western Region.

After the well celebrated Junka Town movies, Mr. Sam has produced new crop of talents in a new movie ‘Tanganyika.’ When the announcement that a new movie which does not feature any of the Junka Town casts came out, the rumour mill was filled with a lot of speculations.

The naysayers doubted how high the new movie ‘Tangayika’ would fly should Mr. Sam attempt to cast new faces in the movie. Taking keen interest in the progress of ‘Tanganyika’ the new movie from Tango One productions, could authoritatively confirm that the progress of ‘Tanganyika’ in the first week of its release online is moving on a cheetah pace than Junka Town movies. Checks on the youtube channel reveals a whopping 45,000 views in the first two weeks of its release online.

Comments from viewers also confirms how much Atemuda, a leading character in the movie is gradually becoming a household name. ‘Tangiyika,’ the new production from Mr. Sam has a better story line told in a humorous way, many people assert. The story of what goes around comes around is best told in ‘Tanganyika.’

In a country where Showbiz invokes two thoughts; music and film industries, the media often pay attention to these two sectors of Showbiz more than the others. So to be producing new crop of talents in one of the sectors in every production, a name that best describes a genius like Solomon Bosomtwi Sam is ‘Christopher Columbus’ (Discoverer of United States of America).
