Free SHS students to enjoy free cocoa beverage this term

By on

Starting the second term of the 2017/2018 academic year, boarding schools will be served with cocoa beverage as an addition to the Free SHS package.

Edwin Delight Foods, the company with the license to supply the National Food Buffer Stock Company, in a letter to Cocoa Processing Company, has requested for 100 metric tons of cocoa powder.

The total stock consists of 5,000 bags of 20 kg weight of cocoa powder.

This shall be the main beverage for the second term for the feeding of first year students under the government’s Free Senior High School programme.

In a letter signed by Chief Executive Officer Hanan Abdul-Wahab, the National Food Buffer Stock Company stated: “Further to your company’s application to participate in the supply of food items to first year students of public boarding second cycle institution on behalf of National Food Buffer Stock Company, we are pleased to confirm that you have been appointed as a licensed supplier for Nafco”.

“Your company is required to supply cocoa powder to the aforementioned institution on behalf of Nafco for the second term of the 2017/2018 academic year…”

The free education policy began in September, 2017 and has witnessed teething challenges.

But President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured that the challenges will be dealt with.
