The suspect, 29, who gave his name as Paa Kwesi is said to be popularly known in Cape Coast as ‘Oboye Spirit’ He was arrested at dawn on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the Central Business District area in Takoradi. Speaking on Takoradi based Connect FM’s OMANBAPA morning show, the Assembly member for Cassava Farm in Takoradi, Abraham Rex Kutubebi told the Host, Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson he and his watchdog members were on their routine dawn patrol when they spotted the suspect carrying a 42 inch Samsung colour Television set.
” We became suspicious so we quickly intercepted him and upon our interrogation we realised it was a stolen item, we further questioned him and he admitted he went to steal the TV Set from Anaji, a surburb of Takoradi ” Hon Kutubebi explained.
The suspect was then paraded through some principal streets of Takoradi Market Circle just to make a public mockery of him. “When we were parading him through the streets, an onlooker identified him as a very notorious criminal in Cape Coast so he assisted me to link up with Cape Coast police who later collaborated with the Takoradi police to transfer him to Cape Coast ” The Assembly man further narrated Cape coast police have since confirmed the suspect has been on their wanted list for months Some of the items found on him include a screw driver, a pair of scissors, a lighter and a glue which he confessed he uses to steal mobile phones.
