The rope was supporting his shot arm and neck not to commit suicide – Family of Kwesimintsim man who allegedly attempted suicide in Parliament

The elder sister of Jacob Kojo Mensah, the 35 year old who was in the news last week (June 13, 2019) for attempting to commit suicide in Ghana’s Parliament has debunked rumours that her brother was in Ghana’s Parliament last week to commit suicide.

According to the elder Sister of Jacob Kojo Mensah, Linda who is popularly called Sister Efua in Takoradi, the younger sibling did not try to hang himself in the public gallery as it is alleged in the media.

“He is taking care of my sick mother who is suffering from stroke and my blind grandmother who is over 100years at Swedru Agona Nkum in the Central Region. He has been taking care of the two sick people; their bathing and their well-being. I lost my husband 4months ago so my elder who has been taking care of my sick mother and grand mother came to me in Takoradi and he (Kojo Mensah) was asked to take the responsibility of my elder sister since she’s been with me after losing my husband” Sister Efua told

According to Sister Efua, “my brother has been in Lagos, Nigeria for a while now. He is an international driver and drives for an international company in Nigeria. One day when he was driving one of the white men in Lagos, the car was attacked by armed robbers and the white man was kidnaped whilst he was shot at the arm and his neck. The car he was driving somersaulted into a ditch. It took the grace of God for him to come out of the car. A lot of vehicles passed by him when he was trying to ask for help. It took a Good Samaritan to convey him to a nearby clinic. He still has the bullets in his body as we speak. He has been traveling back and forth to Nigeria for the court and the Company to him but to no avail.”

Sister Efua added that “He has been unemployed since he came to Ghana after the horrific incident. We are the ones who take care of him financially. This case has been a disturbing one for him especially as he still has bullets in his body. The hospital in Ghana said that when they try any surgery to remove the bullets, it will paralyze him so they’re managing the situation.”

“He walks around with a rope that ties his hand to his neck because of the bullets in his body. The rope was not to commit suicide in Parliament but it’s something more medical” the elder sister of Kojo Mensah said.

As to why he was mentioning the name of the Member of Parliament for Kwesimintsim, she said “He wanted to meet the MP and discuss the issue with him. He didn’t mean any harm.”

From deep throat, Kojo Mensah has been trying to reach the MP for Kwesimintsim for a while but to no avail so he was using the opportunity to see him when he went to Parliament.

The MP for Kwesimintsim, Joe Mensah wasn’t in Parliament during this incident, is reliably informed.

“Please let everyone know that my brother didn’t mean any harm when he went to Parliament to look for the MP, he went to look for him to let him know that one of his constituents has this serious case” Sister Efua added.

“My brother has been granted bail now” Sister Efua told
